Stata Server Installation Troubleshooting
To install Stata on a server you run the Stata installer, and follow the prompts it gives you. Normal server installation assumes you have direct access to the server, and are installing it locally.
When running the installer, you may find it does not give the option to install on the server you want, because it can’t find it. This usually occurs because the machine you are using is not directly connected to the server.
The easiest way to install Stata on a server when encountering this problem is to install it on the client machine first. Go through the installation steps as normal, installing it as you would for your own personal machine.
Once installation is complete, you can simply copy the Stata folders from the client machine onto the shared network drive. Stata should then be able to be accessed directly from the network drive.
